Will liquid rubber work on a part of roof that is perpendicular to the flat surface? Makes a right angle to the roof.

Question

Erosion of roofing under a deck causing a leak. Cracks are on the part of the roof that is perpendicular to the flat area. Can liquid rubber be applied here, or will it just run off?

Can it be applied on top of tar?

Any other alternatives in your collection for a problem of this nature? Something more tacky?
