MY OLD LEAKING EPDM ROOF HAS BUBBLES-CAN I APPLY DIRECTLY OVER IT OR SHOULD IT BE REMOVED

Question

The old epdm roof has bubbles in it in several places- like it is not stuck to the substrate.  If I apply over that sheet- will the liquid roof penetrate the epdm and re anneal it to the substrate or will the liquid roof just lay over the top of the bubbles adding an additional layer over them?

Hi actually the liquid epdm will not "penetrate" those existing bubbles.  What one of the RV repair shops do that we know if they will cut out those bubbles and then trim that epdm about 1/4 inch re-glue it down and let the glue dry before applying the liquid roof

if you apply the epdm directly to those bubbles it will swell them even more but we really have no way of knowing how much that swelling will go down during the curing process of the liquid roof
